Opportunities for technology teachers

If you’re a qualified technology teacher looking for a change of scene, there are currently many opportunities in New Zealand secondary schools for you to consider.

The secondary staffing survey returns for 2007 confirmed a shortage of technology teachers across all strands of the technology curriculum but particularly in the food and soft materials technology areas. The Ministry of Education’s regular monitoring of teaching vacancies advertised in the Education Gazette also shows a range of technology positions spread throughout New Zealand.

Added to this is the fact that teacher education providers are reporting that they are training fewer technology teachers.

If you wish to pursue a technology teaching opportunity in New Zealand at the beginning of 2009, read our Four steps to complete information so you can start the qualification assessment and registration process (steps 1 and 2) as soon as possible. We recommend you complete both these steps before applying for jobs. The earlier you do this, the easier it is.
